Backpack Program

The major focus of the Helping Hands Committee is providing weekend backpacks of food to students at Newlin Elementary with food insecurity issues. Prepared and delivered to the church by the Food Bank of North Carolina, parish volunteers deliver the meals to school each Thursday afternoon. We currently supply meals on weekends to 65 children. Celebrate Reading & Parent Involvement

Community volunteers gather books and supporting materials to send home monthly to each Newlin kindergarten child and their families. Additional parent involvement activities are planned to bring groups together during and outside of the school day. Contact: Anne Wooten

Lucky Listeners

Volunteers read with children designated by their teachers for special attention. Teachers select students who sit with the Lucky Listener on a weekly basis to practice their reading skills.

Enrichment for Students & Support for Staff

The Partnership aims to support the students and staff of Newlin in a variety of ways. Historical examples include the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, Camp Newlin, and providing fieldtrip scholarships for students in need.
